4.23.21 “Atlanta priest takes her place at the ‘well’ of state politics,”
By Michelle Hiskey, Episcopal News Service
Jackson wore a kente stole of Murray’s to her Senate swearing-in. “The most beautiful one,” Nelson-Amaker said.
“[Murray] was willing to use all her different gifts in the service of God and people,” Nelson-Amaker said. “Kim has this broad and deep sense of serving God however you can, with whatever gifts you have been given.”
Murray’s example inspires Jackson to strive constantly for justice.
“I very much feel that Pauli Murray is in the cloud of witnesses,” Jackson said. “I do not do this work alone. More than anything, she gives me the courage to keep coming back to this work.” >> Read more

State Senator Rev. Kim Jackson said while she was glad to see progress on this issue, there is still a long way to go in reforming criminal justice.
“Here's the truth about the situation; this is really low-hanging fruit," Jackson said. "From a progressive standpoint, there is so much more around criminal justice issues that we need to address and actually make real change [to] protect significantly more Black lives than this bill does." >> Listen to the full episode
